Frequently asked questions
Does converting to JPEG lose quality?
JPEG is lossy — some quality is discarded. The quality slider (default 90) controls the trade-off. Values above 85 are typically indistinguishable from the original.
Can I convert HEIC iPhone photos to JPEG?
Yes. Drop a HEIC file and select JPEG output. The tool decodes HEIC natively in supported browsers (Chrome 117+, Safari 17+).
Why would I convert to AVIF instead of WebP?
AVIF typically achieves 20–35% smaller file sizes than WebP at equivalent visual quality. Browser support is now near-universal (Chrome 85+, Safari 16+, Firefox 93+).
