Tips

  • JPEG is best for photos — 70–85% quality is usually indistinguishable from the original
  • WebP produces smaller files than JPEG at the same quality for most images
  • WebP also supports transparency — useful for compressed versions of removed-bg images
  • For web use, aim for under 200 kB for hero images and under 100 kB for thumbnails

How it works

  • Drop a PNG, JPG, or WebP image
  • Choose JPEG or WebP output format and adjust the quality slider (0–100)
  • The before/after panel shows file size reduction — download when happy with the result

Frequently asked questions

What quality setting should I use?

For web use, 75–85 strikes the right balance — visually near-identical to the original but 30–70% smaller. Go lower only for thumbnails where file size matters more than fine detail.

Is WebP always better than JPEG?

WebP typically produces 25–35% smaller files than JPEG at the same perceptual quality. Use JPEG only if you need maximum compatibility with very old software or browsers.

What is the maximum image size I can compress?

There is no hard size limit — the canvas API processes whatever the browser can decode. Very large images (>20 MP) may take a few seconds on mobile devices.

Why it's different

JPEG and WebP compression with full quality control — no upload, no server. Side-by-side preview lets you find the sweet spot before downloading.

100% Private

Everything runs on your device using in-browser AI. Nothing is transmitted to any server — not the file, not metadata, not filenames.

True Alpha Channel

We export straight (non-premultiplied) alpha so transparent PNGs open with a real checkerboard in Photoshop and Figma — no black halos.

Free Forever

No paywall, no watermark, no premium tier. The full-quality AI is free, supported by non-intrusive ads.

Works Offline

Once loaded, the app and AI models cache locally. Process files without an internet connection. Installable as a desktop or mobile app.
