MP4 · WebM · MOV — compressed in a background worker
How it works
The compressor re-encodes your video using your browser's built-in VP9 codec at a lower target bitrate. The video plays through in real time during processing — one minute of video takes about one minute to compress.
High — 4 Mbps target. Minimal quality loss, ~20–30% size reduction.
Medium — 1.5 Mbps target. Good balance, ~50% size reduction.
Low — 600 Kbps target. Noticeable compression, ~75% size reduction.
Very Low — 200 Kbps target. Maximum reduction, suitable for previews and thumbnails.
Frequently asked questions
How much will it reduce my file size?
High quality typically reduces size by 20–40% with minimal visible loss. Medium achieves 40–60%. Low and Very Low go further but with noticeable quality degradation at normal viewing sizes.
Why does it take as long as my video?
The browser plays your video in real time while encoding each frame. There is no faster path without native FFmpeg. A 2-minute video takes approximately 2 minutes to compress.
What format is the output?
Output is WebM (VP9). To convert to MP4, use the Video Format Converter tool after compressing.
Can I compress video that is already compressed?
Yes, but each re-encode introduces a small additional quality loss. For best results, compress once from the highest quality source you have.
Does it upload my video?
No. All compression runs locally in your browser. Your video never leaves your device.
Why it's different
Video compression using browser-native VP9 encoding — no upload, no account, no server. Your video is compressed locally and stays completely private.
100% Private
Everything runs on your device using in-browser AI. Nothing is transmitted to any server — not the file, not metadata, not filenames.
True Alpha Channel
We export straight (non-premultiplied) alpha so transparent PNGs open with a real checkerboard in Photoshop and Figma — no black halos.
Free Forever
No paywall, no watermark, no premium tier. The full-quality AI is free, supported by non-intrusive ads.
Works Offline
Once loaded, the app and AI models cache locally. Process files without an internet connection. Installable as a desktop or mobile app.
