Suggest framing can fetch about 15 MB once and cache it. If both GPU and CPU delegates fail, the tool reports a contrast-only fallback rather than substituting a skin-colour guess. The editable overlay remains the authority.

Does Smart Crop upload or download a model?
It never uploads the image. Pressing Suggest framing can fetch approximately 15 MB for the pinned face task and MediaPipe runtime, which are cached. If that detector cannot run, the tool clearly falls back to contrast and rule-of-thirds scoring without inventing face boxes.
