Frequently asked questions
Will converting change the video quality?
Conversion re-encodes the video through the browser codec. There is a small quality cost each time you re-encode — for most conversions this is invisible at normal viewing sizes. To minimize loss, start from the highest-quality source you have.
Why does it take as long as the video?
The converter plays the video in real time to a canvas, which a MediaRecorder captures frame by frame. There is currently no faster path available in browsers without native FFmpeg access.
Which format should I use for Instagram and TikTok?
MP4 (AVC/H.264) is the safest choice for social platform uploads. VP9/WebM is excellent for web embeds in modern browsers.
Does this work on iPhone and Safari?
MP4 (AVC) output is supported in Safari. WebM VP9 output is not supported in Safari — use MP4 for iOS compatibility.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
