Sky replacements and property cut-outs — right in your browser
Export transparent property images for compositing free, without a Photoshop subscription.
The problem
Real estate photography often requires sky replacements, property cut-outs for floorplan overlays, and agent headshot preparation. Dedicated sky replacement tools are expensive, and using Photoshop for straightforward background removal per image is slow.
The NSS solution
NSS handles background removal and sky extraction for property photos in your browser, free, with no subscription. Export transparent PNGs for your sky replacement compositing workflow.
How to use it
- 1
Sky extraction for sky replacement composites
Remove the original sky from property exteriors. Export transparent PNG and composite a dramatic or bright-sky replacement in your compositing tool.
- 2
Agent headshot preparation
Process agent headshots from on-location shoots for consistent backgrounds across the brokerage team.
- 3
Property feature and detail cut-outs
Extract kitchen appliances, light fixtures, and architectural details from property photos for marketing brochures.
- 4
Drone photo background composites
Remove backgrounds from aerial shots to composite over maps or stylized aerial backgrounds for listing documents.
Step-by-step guide
- 1
Upload the exterior or agent photo
NSS handles any property photo format: JPG, PNG, or HEIC from your camera or phone.
- 2
Use Best Quality for rooflines and trees
Property rooflines and tree canopies touching the sky have complex edges. Best Quality mode handles these significantly better.
- 3
Refine the edge
Use Edge Refinement's Feather (1–3 px) to preserve the natural edge quality of rooflines and architectural details.
- 4
Export transparent PNG
Export with transparent background. This is your compositing source for sky replacement in Luminar, Photoshop, or any compositing tool.
- 5
Composite in your preferred tool
Place the transparent property layer over your replacement sky. The soft alpha edges at rooflines make the composite look natural.
Common questions
Is this a replacement for dedicated sky replacement tools?
It's a background removal step in a sky replacement workflow. NSS exports the transparent property PNG. You then composite that over a new sky in Luminar Neo, Photoshop, or your preferred tool.
Will it handle trees overlapping the sky?
Best Quality mode handles tree-sky edges well. Very fine foliage detail may need brush touch-up for the most demanding uses.
What about interior shots?
NSS works on any photo. For window replacement (replacing outdoor views through windows), the approach is the same — remove the outdoor view and composite a new one.
Is this free for commercial real estate photography work?
