Step-by-step guide

Take a well-lit photo
Outside in shade or near a window — natural light gives the AI the most fur detail to work with. Contrasting background (light dog on dark ground, or vice versa) helps most.

Use Best Quality mode
Click the model selector and switch to Best Quality. It's the difference between a clean cutout and fur that just disappears.

Review fur edges
Zoom in on ear tips, tail, and paw edges. Use the Restore brush at low opacity to bring back any fine fur that was clipped.

Choose a fun background
Transparent for Canva. Or pick a background right in NSS — solid colour, gradient, or upload a themed background image.

Common questions
Will it handle fluffy dogs with lots of fur?
Best Quality (RMBG-2.0) mode handles fluffy dogs significantly better than Fast mode. Shoot with a contrasting background for cleanest results on very fluffy breeds.
My dog is all-black or all-white — will it work?
High-contrast against the background is what matters. Black dog on dark grass is the hardest. Best Quality mode gives the best results for low-contrast scenarios, but you may need some brush touch-up.
Is my dog's photo uploaded anywhere?
No. All processing is local in your browser. Your photos never leave your device.
Can I do this on my phone?
Yes. NSS runs in iOS 16+ Safari and Android Chrome. Slightly slower than desktop but fully functional.
