Free Tool

Cinematic photo filters in your browser — no Instagram, no Lightroom

8 LUT presets with intensity control. Before/after preview, open in Image Editor, PNG/WebP/JPEG export. Free.

The problem

Instagram's built-in filters are limited and non-customisable. Lightroom presets require a subscription and a desktop application. Free filter apps often add watermarks, compress the output, or require uploading your photos to a server.

The NSS solution

NSS Image Filter applies 8 professional LUT presets — Sepia, Faded Film, High Contrast, Vignette, Cool Mist, Warm Glow, Night Vision, and Cross Process — to still images directly in your browser. Adjust intensity with a slider, compare before and after, open in the Image Editor for further adjustments, and export in PNG, WebP, or JPEG format.

How to use it

  • 1

    Consistent Instagram feed aesthetic

Apply the same preset and intensity to all photos in a batch before posting. Faded Film and Warm Glow are popular choices for a warm, editorial Instagram look.

  • 2

    Portrait enhancement

High Contrast and Cool Mist work well for editorial portrait photos. Adjust intensity to 60–80% to avoid an overly processed look.

  • 3

    Product photography colour adjustment

Warm Glow adds warmth to product photos without a dedicated lighting setup. Apply a subtle 30–40% intensity to keep the product colours accurate while improving overall image mood.

  • 4

    Creative and stylised photography

Night Vision creates a green monochrome look suitable for creative or experimental photography projects. Cross Process produces an high-saturation split-tone effect.

  • 5

    Before/after comparison for clients

Use the before/after preview slider to generate a side-by-side comparison image for client presentations or social media engagement posts.

Step-by-step guide

  1. 1

    Upload your image

Go to /image-filter and drop your photo. PNG, JPEG, WebP, and HEIC are all accepted. HEIC files are converted in the browser automatically.

  2. 2

    Choose a preset

Click through the 8 preset buttons to preview each look on your photo. The preview updates immediately as you switch presets.

  3. 3

    Adjust the intensity slider

Start at 50% and adjust. Lower intensity blends the filter with the original for a subtle grade. 100% applies the full preset effect.

  4. 4

    Compare before and after

Toggle the before/after comparison view to see the original and filtered versions side by side. Useful for confirming the grade is not too heavy.

  5. 5

    Export in your preferred format

Click Download. Choose PNG for lossless quality, JPEG for smaller file size, or WebP for web optimisation. All formats export at the original image resolution.

Common questions

What do LUTs actually do to image pixels?

A LUT (Look-Up Table) maps each RGB colour value in the image to a new output colour value. Every pixel in the image is individually remapped according to the table. Warm Glow, for example, maps shadow pixels toward warm brown tones and boosts mid-tone saturation without a complex formula — it is a pre-computed colour transformation applied per pixel.

Does re-exporting reduce the image quality?

PNG export is lossless — there is zero quality loss. JPEG export uses the quality setting you choose (default 90), which is indistinguishable from the original at standard viewing sizes. WebP export at quality 90 is also visually lossless for most images.

Can I open the filtered image in the Image Editor?

Yes. After applying a filter, click "Open in Image Editor" to continue with brush refinement, background addition, cropping, or any other editor feature on the filtered image.

What export formats are available?

PNG (lossless, full alpha support), WebP (efficient, good quality), and JPEG (smallest file size, no alpha). All formats export at the full original image resolution.
