Visualize furniture in real rooms before committing
AI-composite furniture pieces into room photos for client presentations — no rendering software required.
The problem
Traditional interior design mockups require either expensive 3D rendering software or professional SketchUp/AutoCAD skills. Quick "what if I put this sofa here" mockups for client presentations take hours instead of minutes.
The NSS solution
NSS lets interior designers drag furniture product photos into room images using AI background removal and real-time canvas compositing. Create client presentation mockups in minutes, not hours, entirely in a browser tab.
How to use it
- 1
Client presentation mockups
Show clients what a specific sofa, table, or rug looks like in their actual room photo before purchasing.
- 2
Furniture layout alternatives
Test multiple furniture arrangements in the same room photo. Export each variation for comparison.
- 3
New product evaluation
Composite a manufacturer's product press photo into a room to evaluate fit before ordering samples.
- 4
Before-and-after reveals
Create side-by-side before (empty room) and after (virtually staged) images for design presentation decks.
- 5
Online design consultations
During video consultations, prepare staged mockups of the client's space to share screen and discuss in real time.
Step-by-step guide
- 1
Photograph the room
Use a wide-angle shot that shows the floor-to-ceiling space. Consistent lighting across the room helps with shadow realism.
- 2
Source furniture images
Use retailer product pages, manufacturer press kits, or your own furniture photography. Straight-on product shots work best.
- 3
Upload room and add furniture
Open /tools/real-estate-staging. Upload the room photo, then add each furniture item — AI removes backgrounds automatically.
- 4
Position at realistic scale
Scale each piece to match real-world proportions. Use reference points in the room (door height, window size) to judge scale.
- 5
Export for client presentation
Export as PNG. Add to a presentation deck or share directly. Return to the session to swap pieces and create alternatives.
Common questions
Does it handle rugs and floor coverings correctly?
Yes. Place rugs as a layer beneath furniture pieces using the layer ordering controls. The z-order lets you stack pieces correctly.
How realistic does the shadow look?
A ground shadow is added automatically beneath each piece. It creates a convincing contact shadow for flat surfaces. For highly polished floors, reduce the shadow blur for a sharper shadow.
Can I use this for 3D renders or only photography?
The tool works with any image as the background, including 3D architectural renders. You can composite real product photos onto rendered spaces.
Is there a limit on how many pieces I can add?
No hard limit — add as many furniture items as the room can accommodate. Performance depends on the total canvas size and number of layers.
