Browser video editor — grade, trim, and export without software install

Open any processed video in the browser editor. Adjust colour grade, trim clips, overlay text, and export — no Premiere, no DaVinci required.

The problem

Processed video from background removal tools requires a separate editing application for colour grading, trimming, and text overlays. Professional NLEs have steep learning curves and subscription costs. Simple online editors upload your video to cloud servers, raising privacy concerns and adding round-trip latency.

The NSS solution

NSS Video Editor opens directly from the Video Background Remover output. Adjust colour grade (brightness, contrast, saturation, hue), trim start and end points, add text overlays, and export — all in the browser without any upload. It also accepts direct video uploads if you want to edit footage independently of the background removal step.

How to use it

  • 1

    Colour grade background-removed video

After removing a video background, click "Edit in Video Editor" to open the clip. Adjust brightness, contrast, and saturation to match your target platform's aesthetic.

  • 2

Trim clip start and end points

Remove dead air, intro silence, or trailing footage by setting trim in and out points in the editor timeline before export.

  • 3

    Add text overlays and titles

Add a title card, lower-third name label, or call-to-action text directly in the browser editor without switching to a separate motion graphics tool.

  • 4

    Composite presenter over branded background

Open a background-removed presenter clip, set a brand background image, add logo text overlay, and export as a polished branded video.

  • 5

    Final QC before social upload

Play back the processed video with grade applied, check for any artefacts, and trim to the exact length before downloading the final file.

Step-by-step guide

  1. 1

Open a video in the editor

From the Video BG Remover, click "Edit in Video Editor" after processing. Or go directly to /video-editor and upload your own MP4 or WebM file.

  2. 2

    Adjust colour grade

Use the brightness, contrast, saturation, and hue sliders. Changes apply in real time to the playback preview. Start with subtle adjustments (+10 brightness, +15 contrast) and refine.

  3. 3

    Set trim points

Drag the trim handles on the timeline to set the start and end of the export. Only the trimmed region is included in the download.

  4. 4

    Add text overlays

Click Add Text to insert a text element. Drag it to position, resize, and set colour and font weight. Multiple text layers are supported.

  5. 5

    Export your clip

Click Export. The editor re-encodes the clip in the browser and downloads a WebM file. For MP4, convert using HandBrake or FFmpeg.

Common questions

What input formats does the Video Editor accept?

The Video Editor accepts MP4 (H.264) and WebM (VP8/VP9) files. HEVC (H.265) and MOV may work depending on browser codec support, but MP4 and WebM are the most reliable inputs.

Can I upload a video directly without going through background removal?

Yes. Go to /video-editor and upload your video directly. Background removal is optional — you can use the editor for grading and trimming any video clip.

What format does the export produce?

The export produces a WebM file. WebM is natively supported by YouTube. For Instagram, TikTok, or other MP4-only platforms, convert using HandBrake (free) or FFmpeg.

Does the editor use GPU acceleration?

Playback and preview use the browser's hardware-accelerated video decoder. Re-encoding for export uses the browser's MediaRecorder API, which on Chrome and Edge can use hardware-accelerated VP9 encoding on supported systems.
