Lifestyle product composer

Place a product cutout on a curated lifestyle scene — colour match, edge feather, drop shadow, and reflection in one step.

What it does

The Lifestyle Product Composer removes the background from your product photo and composites it onto a curated lifestyle scene — a kitchen counter, a wooden table, a linen surface, an outdoor setting. The result looks like a professional studio lifestyle shot, created entirely in your browser.

How it works

Step 1 — Background removal

Your product image is processed by the same AI model used in the main background remover (RMBG-1.4 or BiRefNet, whichever you have selected). The subject is extracted with a Float32 alpha mask preserving soft edges.

Step 2 — Scene background render

The selected lifestyle template is decoded and drawn at the scene's natural resolution. Scene backgrounds are pre-graded and calibrated for product photography.

Step 3 — Multi-pass blending

The extracted product is composited onto the scene through six rendering passes:

PassEffect
ShadowDrop shadow or ground shadow projected beneath the product
Ambient occlusionDarkening of contact edges where the product meets the surface
Color matchingSubtle hue/saturation shift to harmonize product tones with the scene
Edge featheringSoft blending at the product boundary to avoid hard cutout look
VignetteScene-level darkening at corners for studio depth
Final compositeProduct layer merged over scene with blend mode and opacity

Step 4 — Export

The final composition is exported as a full-resolution PNG. Your original product image and the scene background remain on your device — nothing is uploaded.

Blending controls

Access advanced blending controls in the Image Editor under Properties → Product Blending:

  • Color match (0–100%) — How much the product's colors are tinted to match the scene's light
  • Edge feather (0–8 px) — How softly the product blends into the scene at its edges
  • Shadow type — None, drop shadow, or ground (flat) shadow
  • Shadow strength (0–100%) — Shadow opacity
  • Shadow blur (0–40 px) — Shadow softness
  • Surface reflection — Adds a subtle reflection below the product for glossy/wet surfaces

Tips for best results

  • Use a product photo with a plain or simple background for cleaner extraction.
  • Choose a scene whose light direction matches your product photo.
  • Adjust Color Match to 20–40% for a natural-looking integration without heavy color shift.
  • Use Ground shadow for products sitting on a flat surface (bottles, cans, boxes).
  • Use Drop shadow for products that appear to be floating or hanging.

Using in the Image Editor

You can also access the Lifestyle Composer directly from the Image Editor:

  1. Open or upload your product in the editor.
  2. In the left sidebar, go to Background → Lifestyle Scene.
  3. Choose a template from the grid.
  4. Adjust blending options in the Properties panel on the right.
