Features
PDF background remover
Remove white or light backgrounds from PDF pages — per-page thumbnails, Low/Medium/High strength control.
What it does
The PDF background remover renders each page of your PDF as a high-resolution image, runs AI background removal on each page, and provides per-page PNG downloads.
This is designed primarily for removing white or light backgrounds from document pages, leaving text and content visible on a transparent background.
Removal strength
The most important setting is Removal strength:
| Strength | What it does | Use when |
|---|---|---|
| Low (default) | Only removes near-white pixels (R>230, G>230, B>230) that the AI also identifies as background | Document pages — preserves text, lines, and logos |
| Medium | Applies the raw AI mask without thresholding | General images, photos |
| High | Aggressively removes anything the AI marks as background | Maximum removal, may affect dark content |
For typical document pages (white background, black text), Low is almost always the right choice.
Per-page workflow
- Upload a PDF
- Choose removal strength
- Wait for processing (each page renders and processes separately)
- View per-page thumbnails
- Download individual pages or use "Download all as ZIP"
Tips
- Multi-page PDFs process all pages sequentially
- Very large PDFs (100+ pages) may take several minutes
- If the PDF has a transparent background already, the tool will still process it but output may be unchanged
- For scanned documents with a cream/off-white background, use Medium strength
