Game asset prep in your browser — sprite cutouts, icons, and batch processing

Clean sprite backgrounds, favicon-ready app icons, and batch asset libraries. No Photoshop needed.

The problem

Preparing sprite sheets, game UI icons, in-game emoji, and platform app icons requires multiple tools: Photoshop for background removal, a favicon generator for app icons, and a resizer for different platform targets. Switching between tools for what should be simple image operations slows down indie development.

The NSS solution

NSS covers the full game asset prep workflow: AI background removal for sprite cutouts, ICO Creator for app icons and game launchers, Batch Processor for entire asset libraries, Image Resizer for platform-specific dimensions, and Emoji Creator for in-game stickers and reaction icons.

How to use it

  • 1

    Sprite and character cutouts

Remove backgrounds from character concept art, enemy sprites, and prop images for transparent PNG assets ready to drop into Unity, Godot, or Phaser.

  • 2

    App icon and favicon creation

Use the ICO Creator to generate game launcher icons in all required sizes (16, 32, 48, 64, 128, 256px) for Windows, Mac, and web store listings.

  • 3

    Batch process an asset library

Upload up to 100 sprite images to the Batch Processor and remove backgrounds from the entire set in one job — no per-image editing required.

  • 4

    In-game emoji and reaction icons

Use the Emoji Creator to produce rounded or square in-game icons from character art or UI elements — all sizes from 32px to 512px in one download.

  • 5

    Platform-specific image resizing

Use the Image Resizer to scale sprites and icons to exact pixel dimensions for different platform targets without blurring.

Step-by-step guide

  1. 1

    Gather your source art

Concept art, 3D renders, or pixel art on a solid colour background all work well. Higher resolution source gives better AI edge results.

  2. 2

    Batch remove backgrounds

Go to /batch and drop your asset folder (as a ZIP or multi-select). All images process sequentially and export as a ZIP of transparent PNGs.

  3. 3

Create app icons with ICO Creator

Upload your game's logo or key art to /ico-creator. Download the multi-size .ico for Windows or the PNG set for Mac and web.

  4. 4

    Create in-game emoji

Upload character face art to /emoji-creator. Adjust padding and corner radius, preview at all sizes, and download the ZIP.

  5. 5

    Resize for platform targets

Use /image-resize to scale individual assets to exact dimensions for each platform's requirements.

Common questions

Does it work on pixel art?

Yes, though the AI is designed for photographic images. For pixel art, the background removal works best when the art has a clear solid colour background. Fine pixel-level edges may need brush touch-up.

Can I process 3D renders for game assets?

Yes. 3D renders on solid colour or transparent backgrounds work very well. For renders on white, Fast mode is usually sufficient.

Is there a batch size limit?

The Batch Processor handles up to 100 images per batch. You can run multiple batches for larger asset libraries.

Is this free for commercial game projects?

Yes. NSS is completely free with no usage limits or commercial restrictions.
