Common questions

Is there a maximum frame count?

There is no hard limit in the tool, but GIFs with more than 100 frames may be slow to process and produce large output files. For very long animations, consider splitting the GIF first.

Will the output GIF quality match the input?

GIF format is limited to 256 colours per frame. The AI adds true transparency (1-bit alpha in GIF), but the colour palette remains 256 colours. For higher quality, use the PNG frames download and composite them as a video or WebM instead.

Should I use GIF or WebM for transparency?

WebM with VP9 supports full 8-bit alpha and millions of colours. If your target platform supports WebM (Discord does, most modern browsers do), use the Video BG Remover instead for better quality. GIF is best for compatibility with older platforms and email clients.

Why is my output GIF a large file size?

GIF is an inefficient format for complex animations. Each frame stores a full 256-colour palette. Shorter GIFs, solid backgrounds, and simple subjects produce smaller files. For web use, consider converting the transparent GIF to WebM or APNG using a dedicated converter.
