Step-by-step guide

    Film as you normally would. Any background works — tidy or messy. Consistent lighting helps the AI perform better, but it is not strictly required.

Common questions

Is this better or worse than a physical green screen?

For most YouTube setups, AI background removal produces results comparable to a well-lit green screen — without the space requirements, lighting gear, or colour spill corrections. A green screen in ideal conditions will produce a slightly cleaner edge, but NSS is far more practical for home creators.

Can I use the output directly in YouTube?

YouTube requires MP4. The NSS output is WebM, which is widely compatible but may need converting. Use HandBrake (free) to produce an MP4 from the WebM before uploading.

What resolution does it support?

The Video Background Remover processes up to 1080p. For 4K uploads, process at 1080p and upscale using the NSS Video Upscaler or a dedicated upscaling tool.

Does it work with moving hair and loose clothing?

AI segmentation handles moving hair and loose fabric better than a poorly lit green screen. Very fine flyaway hair in high-contrast lighting may lose some detail, but results are generally good for on-camera YouTube production.

Can I batch-process multiple episode clips?

Each clip is processed individually in the browser tab. For batch processing, open multiple tabs — one clip per tab — to run jobs in parallel, limited only by your device RAM and GPU memory.
